What treatment involves
Treatment removes affected pulp tissue, cleans the root canal system and fills and seals the canals. Local anaesthetic is used. Cleaning
Affected pulp tissue is removed and the root canal system is cleaned and disinfected.

Sealing
The canals are filled and sealed. Local anaesthetic is used during treatment.

Restoration
A filling or crown restores the tooth. This may take place after root canal treatment.

After root canal treatment, the tooth still needs to be restored so it can function again. A crown may be recommended depending on the tooth's position and how much tooth structure remains. Your dentist will explain the restoration options for your tooth.
