The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is a government-funded program that provides up to $1,000 in dental benefits over two calendar years for eligible children aged 2-17 years. It covers basic dental services like check-ups, cleaning, fillings, and x-rays to help make dental care more affordable for families.

Your child is eligible if they are aged 2-17 years, have a valid Medicare card, and your family receives certain government benefits such as Family Tax Benefit Part A. CDBS covers essential dental services including examinations, professional cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, x-rays (when clinically necessary), root canal treatments, and tooth extractions. However, it does not cover cosmetic dental work or orthodontic treatments like braces.

CDBS provides up to $1,000 in benefits over two consecutive calendar years. This benefit cap resets every two years, so if your child remains eligible, they can receive another $1,000 in benefits for the next two-year period. The benefits can be used for multiple visits throughout this time.

At our practice, we can bulk bill eligible CDBS treatments, which means there's no out-of-pocket cost for covered services within the benefit limits. We handle all the paperwork and claims processing directly with Medicare, making it as convenient as possible for families.
