Metal braces are the most common type of orthodontics treatment to correct misaligned teeth.

Gone are the days when braces were embarrassing or an inconvenience.

Did you know that 70% of kids actually react with happiness or excitement at the news that they need braces? (According to a study by the Australian Society of Orthodontics).

Metal Braces Treatment

Traditional metal braces are made from stainless steel or titanium, our metal braces are high quality and effective.

The metal brackets are glued onto each tooth with dental cement and connected with
heat-activated wires. Patients may also require elastics to help push the teeth into place
faster.

This orthodontics treatment varies in length of time depending on the condition of your teeth, how fast they move and how often you visit the orthodontist.

How do I care for metal braces?

It’s important to maintain the upkeep of your metal braces to ensure optimal results in the long term.

You may continue to brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, after removing any rubber bands, if necessary.

While a toothbrush may not feel like it’s reaching all curves and crevices of the mouth, it’s also a good idea to use mouthwash regularly and floss using a Pikster. These are available for purchase from our practice.

Ensure you stay clear of any chewy or hard foods as these are not only harder to clean your teeth with metal braces in place, but can also cause a lot of harm to the metal brackets and positioning of your braces
